Nevertheless, guidelines are always changing nowadays, so travelers should make doubly sure that they search for their destination’s COVID-19 travel policy prior to booking. It’s also important to keep a close monitor on the situation as your day of departure gets closer, that way, you have less of a risk to find yourself in a tight spot after landing.

Visa on Arrival:

• Convenience at your fingertips! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) or designated entry points, obtain your visa directly.
• Flexible options: Choose from 15-day ($30 USD), 30-day ($50 USD), or 90-day ($125 USD) visas to match your travel itinerary.

Online Application:

• Save time and skip queues! Apply for your visa electronically through the official Nepal Immigration website: https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/.
• Fees similar to on-arrival visas: Enjoy the convenience with the same pricing structure.

Nepalese Embassy or Consulate:

• For a personalized touch: If you prefer in-person assistance, visit a Nepalese embassy or consulate within your home country.
• Possible fee variations: Check with the specific embassy or consulate for potential differences in visa fees.

Essential Visa Requirements:

• Valid Passport: Ensure your passport has at least six months validity from your intended arrival date in Nepal.
• Visa Application Form: Complete the visa application form accurately and comprehensively.
• Passport-Sized Photos: Bring four passport-sized photographs that meet standard visa photo specifications.

Gratis Visa (Free Visa) Eligibility:

• Children under 10 years: (except US citizens) can enjoy a free visa.
• SAARC Citizens: Citizens of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka (excluding Afghanistan) visiting Nepal for the first time in a given visa year qualify for a free 30-day visa. (For Afghan citizens, a recommendation from the Department of Immigration is required.)
• NRN Card Holders: Holders of a Non-Residential Nepalese (NRN) card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) or Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad are exempt from visa fees.
• Chinese Nationals: Enjoy a free 150-day visa.

Important Note:

Citizens of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, and refugees with travel documents must acquire a visa beforehand from a Nepalese embassy or consulate near them.

International Flights

Nepal Government has taken the decision to resume international flights from 11th July 2021. Further, the flights from and to Kathmandu are operated smoothly with safety measures.

Do you want to know the safety precautions to travel to Nepal internationally? Here are some travel protocols you should follow as you are traveling to Nepal.

• COVID-19 Negative Report: The traveler should take a swab test and have a negative report within 72 hours before arrival.
• Identification document: Passport or Valid Photo ID Card.
• CCMC Form with Barcode: Fill the form online and save it to proceed further.
• Quarantine: The traveler should book a Government listed hotel for quarantine at least for 7 days on arrival. The vaccinated travelers can have home quarantine for 10 days.

Quarantine

Prior to the quarantine facility in Nepal; Nepal Government has listed hotels that provide quarantine facilities for international travelers. 

The quarantine is monitored by MoCTCA, NTB & Nepal Police.

Is Visa on arrival still in practice?

Yes, Visa on arrival is in practice in Nepal. But, you should pre-fill the On arrival visa recommendation form so that you can have a visa while you arrived in Nepal.

Else you can apply for Visa before arrival by applying at Nepalese Diplomatic Mission and stating for reason for being in Nepal. However, the Visa on arrival is a much easier approach. But, apply for the on-arrival visa online.
