Clean up to improve appearance
[edit]Article(s): en:Paul Martin (illustrator) - reachable via the link in reference 201.
- Request
Hello. I am the original uploader of this image. I still have the original magazine. I would like to avoid any alterations that would require a new file name. Please tweak this image to make it more presentable. Notice how there is a bluish tint or something in the lower-third left section, for instance. The background should be more naturally uniform. I'd appreciate just some touch-ups to improve the overall quality without creating a new file name. That might mean improving the focus and coloring and removing any glare area. I attempted to improve the image with my basic image editor on May 2, 2025 (under "File history"). However, I seemed to give it an artificial glitter appearance instead. Update. I increased size and tried again w/o success on 7/5.

- They're not worse, but also not that much better. With the original files being as bad as they are, you can't expect that much of an improvement apparently. So I'm rather indifferent about it. --Rosenzweig τ 05:58, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

- Hi! Could the photo perspectives of these two photos be enhanced (by which I mean: very sharp, straight edges) and then be cropped? Could a new, cropped version be uploaded instead of replacing it? Thanks in advance! Kind regards, --S. Perquin (talk) 13:25, 18 August 2025 (UTC)

- No problem. They will do. How should they be cropped? To the crest for the first? The second is already as tight as feasible. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 16:59, 28 August 2025 (UTC)
- Ideally, right up to the edges, indeed! So, in the case of the window, the white edges form the outer sides of the image. And in the case of the stone, the white edges form the outer edges. The edges of the stone could perhaps be filled with white, so that the stone is cut out very precisely. Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 20:12, 28 August 2025 (UTC)

- Dear JayCubby, thank you for your adjustment! However, what I meant was to crop it in such a way that it becomes slightly distorted so that it fits within the frames. So not necessarily just cutting it out, but also distorting the entire image. Do you know how to do this? I look forward to hearing from you or someone else! Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 16:17, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, I see now that you made the stained glass window the way I meant it! 😄 Could you apply something similar to the stone? And then as a new image, so not overwritten. Kind regards, S. Perquin (talk) 16:19, 4 September 2025 (UTC)

- At https://archives.seattle.gov/digital-collections/index.php/Detail/objects/111776 there is a higher-resolution TIFF of this, that looks quite good. However, when I tried (several different ways) to use GIMP to convert that to a JPEG to overwrite the cuurent file, it lost a lot of the richness of the color. If someone can do that effectively it would be great; otherwise, just ping me back and I'll separately upload the TIFF. - Jmabel ! talk 01:24, 25 October 2025 (UTC)
